In Our Class This Week...

Good afternoon parents and guardians, 

We are still in need of lots of donations for our Apple Tasting celebration on Wednesday, please let me know you can donate anything. 


Be sure to check out our Shutterfly page for our latest classroom pictures. If you would like access, please email me for a special invite. Soon all parents/guardians will be given access to teachers grade books. I try to update my grades right away after the students take a test.

We are in need of the following for our classroom:

Play-doh

 Please help me reinforce the following hand signals and rules: 
Hand Signals: (show me the number of fingers in the air)
2 fingers: restroom
Encourage your child to use the restroom before school, during recess, during lunch, during PE and after school.
3 fingers: water
Children may bring their own water bottle to keep in class, please LABEL it with their name.
4 fingers: tissue
when needed, please ask student to sit back down right away
5 fingers: question
question for me to give more information on

Classroom Rules:
#1: Listen while the teacher is talking
#2: Follow directions quickly
#3: Respect others, respect yourself, respect your school
#4: Raise your hand to speak or stand
#5: Keep your hands to yourself
#6: Keep your dear teacher happy

    I will be at a teacher training Thursday and Friday of this week. Please remind your child the importance of respecting the substitute teacher and following all directions. I expect the best behavior from all my students while I am out of the classroom.

      Homework Plan

      I wanted to share some information on our kindergarten homework plan for this school year. This will give you time to review the information and allows me to answer any questions for you. 

      Homework Folder
      Provided by me.
      Students are encouraged to bring and turn in their folders daily (will have a file holder on my classroom door).
      I will keep folders over the weekend and return every Monday.


      Homework Practice Pages 
      Going home every two weeks.
      The pages sent home are meant to be fun and used multiple times.
      Feel free to place them in sheet protectors or laminate to use with a dry erase marker.


      Nightly Reading
      A month log reading log will be sent home at the beginning of each month.
      On a daily basis please read 10 min, then initial in all corresponding spots.


      Monthly Family Projects
      These will go home at the beginning of each month and will have a set due date (at least two weeks time will be given).
      Due dates are given so children have time to present their projects to their classmates


      Recommended items to have at home
      dry erase marker
      dice 
      dominoes
      deck of cards
      counting items (beads, beans, pennies, connecting cubes, legos, etc)
