This Week In Our Class...

These past two weeks may have been short but they sure were jam packed with FUN! I hope your kiddos had a great time at our 100th Day Celebration! Many thanks to all those families that donated items.

2/23 Returning students-enrollment packets due!

2/23: Black History Month Performance 1:30-3:00
-Kindergarten will be singing a Martin Luther King song
-Feel free to have students practice the song at home

2/25:Wacky Wednesday from 11:00-12:00
Feel free to stop by to help!!
Students will build their own house to keep out the big bad wolf!

2/26 Awards Assembly @ 8am

Here is a look into our new week

Language Arts:
Story: Unit 4-Week 2 "My Lucky Day"

Math:
Finish Chapter 11: Calendar Patterns
Students will know the days of the week
Students will know the months of the year
Chapter 11 Test

Begin Chapter 12: Counting on and counting back
Students will be able to revisit ordering numbers to 10 with one to one correspondence
Students will be able to count on to 10
Students will be able to count back using fingers

Science:
Continue with Chapter 7: Matters and Mixtures
Students will be able to identify and measure solid objects.
Students will be able to observe how liquids take the shape of their containers.
Students will be able to tell that gases fill their containers
Students will be able to tell how water changes by freezing, melting and boiling

On Friday 2/27 we will be making root beer floats to see what happens when you mix a liquid with a solid. If you can donate any of the following items they would be greatly appreciated:
Root Beer
Vanilla Ice Cream
CLEAR cups (27)

In Our Class This Week...

As mentioned in my previous posts we have two celebrations coming up: Valentine's Day and 100th Day of School.
Our Valentines Day Celebration will be Feb. 12 and our 100th Day Celebration will be Feb. 18. 
I sent home a flier last week regarding the Valentines Day Card box-Family project. Here are some more ideas. You do not need to be limited to a shoe box or cereal box, even water/milk gallons work!


Some big news about 100th day, students this year are allowed to dress up as 100 year old (school wide)!  Here are some ideas:

-We have 27 students in our class
-To make it easier on the students to pass out cards please fill out "To: Friend"and "From: student's name"
2/13: Lincoln's Birthday-No school
2/16: President's Day-No school
2/18: 100th Day of School and Practice Drill @ 9:00 am
2/20: Art with Mr. Ruben

Students will be able to add using number trains and count on using fingers

Students will be able to sequence events
