In Our Class This Week...

As mentioned in my previous posts we have two celebrations coming up: Valentine's Day and 100th Day of School.
Our Valentines Day Celebration will be Feb. 12 and our 100th Day Celebration will be Feb. 18. 
I sent home a flier last week regarding the Valentines Day Card box-Family project. Here are some more ideas. You do not need to be limited to a shoe box or cereal box, even water/milk gallons work!


Some big news about 100th day, students this year are allowed to dress up as 100 year old (school wide)!  Here are some ideas:

Here are is some important new from the PTO and dates to keep in mind:

2/11: Coffee with Director
2/12: Valentines Day celebrations 
-Students are allowed to bring in Valentines this day
-We have 27 students in our class
-To make it easier on the students to pass out cards please fill out "To: Friend"and "From: student's name"
2/13: Lincoln's Birthday-No school
2/16: President's Day-No school
2/18: 100th Day of School and Practice Drill @ 9:00 am
2/20: Art with Mr. Ruben
2/23: Black History Month Performance 1:30-3:00
-We will be singing a Martin Luther King song
-Feel free to have students practice the song at home
2/26: Awards Assembly @ 8:00 am

Language Arts:
Story: Unit 3-Week 6 "The Lion and the Mouse"


Unit 3 test:
HFW covered this unit: me, with, she, see, look, they, of and you
Math:
Finish Chapter 9: Comparing Sets and test
Comparing sets up to 10
Students will be able to understand fewer and less and identity each group
Comparing sets 11-20
Comparing sets to find the difference
Students will be able to count the difference through comparing sets in one-to-one correspondence.
Combining sets
Students will be able to add using number trains and count on using fingers
Begin Chapter 10 : Ordinal numbers
Sequence events
Students will be able to sequence events

Science:
Candy Hearts
Sink or Float?
Dissolve in water? Soda? Vinegar?
Leadership:
Resilience- Black struggles for equality
