5 points- student reads word without sounding it out loud "Cat"
4 points-student sounds out word then read it-"c-a-t...cat"
3 points-student only says sounds in word "c-a-t" is not able to read word or says wrong word
2 points-student is only able to produce 2 sounds in the word "c-a"
1 point-student is only able to produce 1 sound in word "c"
