In Our Class This Week...

Thank you so much for all your donations for our first Wacky Wednesday! The kids did a great job building their own haunted house to keep the big bad wolf out. 

School News:
10/24 to 10/28: Red Ribbon Week/Book Fair
Monday: wear red
Tuesday: backwards free dress
Wednesday: wear favorite team's sport shirt/jersey
Thursday: dress in western wear
Friday: crazy dress/hair day

Scholastic Book Fair is also going on this week. Stop by the Nursery for books before, during and after school. 

10/28: October Family Project DUE!

10/31: Fall Classroom Party

11/10: UCR Walking Field Trip
TURN IN PERMISSION SLIPS ASAP
Chaperones will be chosen soon. 

11/11: NO SCHOOL!

October Family Project ideas:

Language Arts: Unit 2 Week 2: "Nature Spy"
CVC reading test - mix of S, A, T, M words
First Sound Fluency (say beginning sounds of words)
Letter of the week: S
Letter S song ABC Mouse

Home activities: 
Look for the letter S (in all kinds of fonts)
Say words that begin with the /s/ sound and have the /s/ sound in the end
Draw pictures that begin with the /s/ sound

Sound out S - CVC words (ex. Sam, sat, sap, sad)

Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday
This week's focus: Setting

High Frequency Words (HFW): have, is
    Math: Unit 2 Numbers to 10 Lessons 3.8 to 3.12
    Unit 3 Numbers to 10
    Students will be able to count and say up to 10
    Count and cross items out

    Science: Spiders, Bats and Skeletons, Oh My!
    Students will be able to state facts about spiders, bats and skeletons.

    Social Studies: Halloween Around the World
    Students will be able to state facts about Halloween around the world

    Writing: The Handwriting House
    Write first letter sound identification
