In Our Class This Week...

November Family Project ideas:
Disguise a Turkey Project (DUE 11/17)

Language Arts: Unit 2 Week 4: "Bear Snores On"

Our first CVC reading test was Friday, scores tests were returned same day
How the test was scored:
5 points- read word without sounding it out-"Pat"
4 points- sound out word and say word -"p/a/t-pat"
3 points- sound out word and say incorrect word or no word at all-"p/a/t"
2 points- only says two sounds in the word
1 point- only says one sound in the word

Letter of the week: C
Letter C song- ABC mouse
Home activities: Look for the letter C (in all kinds of fonts)
Say words that begin with the /C/ sound
Draw pictures that begin with the /c/ sound
Sound out C-CVC words
Cat, Can, Cub, Cob

Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday (Based on the comprehension skill of the week)
This week's focus: Realism and Fantasy

High Frequency Words (HFW): Same set of words last for two weeks. These words are meant to be read just by seeing them.
This week's words: we, my, like


Math: Unit 4 Ordering numbers (4.1-4.4)
Unit 4 Ordering numbers
Count to 10, even with missing numbers
Count items for each number up to 10

Science: Seasons
Students will be able to state facts about the 4 seasons

Social Studies: Veteran's Day
Students will be able to state facts about our military branches and why we celebrate Veteran's Day.

Writing: The Handwriting House
Vowels (CVC words)
a, e, i, o, u
