In Our Class This Week...

I will be out Thursday and Friday for a Kindergarten Professional Development Conference. Please remind yo child to be on their best behavior for the substitute. 

Parent Teacher Conferences are almost here! I will be using an online sign up method for choosing your time slot for our 2016 Parent-Teacher Conferences.

          Beginning, middle and ending sounds in words
         CVC words
          Rhyming words
          Identify words with same beginning, middle or ending sounds
          HFW: have, is, we, my, like, he, for
          Reading comprehension



    Letter of the week: I
    Home activities: Look for the letter I (in all kinds of fonts)

    Say words that begin with the /i/ sound
    Draw pictures that begin with the /i/ sound
    Sound middle Ii-CVC words
    Pig, tip, pin, sit, him, 
    Make a list words with these endings

    -ig, -ip,-in, -it, -im

    Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday (Based on the comprehension skill of the week)

    Song we review in class:  Parts of a Story song
    This week's focus:  REALISM VS FANTASY

    High Frequency Words (HFW): Same set of words last for two weeks. These words are meant to be read just by seeing them.
    This week's words: he, for

    Math: Unit 4 Ordering Numbers 
    Count to 10, even with missing numbers
    Count items for each number up to 10
    Minus one (one less)
    TEST TUESDAY

    Begin Unit 5: Shapes
    Identify similar solid shapes
    Name shapes

    Science: Animals in Winter
    Students will be able to state facts about animals in winter.

    Social Studies: 
    Students will be able to describe the meaning of a holiday.

    Writing: The Handwriting House TEST FRIDAY
