In Our Class This Week...

I wanted to thank you all so much for all your donations as of late. I know I have asked for a lot so thank you so much for your contribution.

Language Arts: Unit 4 Week 2: "My Lucky Day"


    Letter(s) of the week: Ll
    Letter L - ABC Mouse
    Letter L - Story Bots
    Letter L - Have Fun Teaching
    Home activities: Look for the letter L (in all kinds of fonts)
    Say words that begin with the /l/ sound
    Draw pictures that begin with the /l/ sound
    Sound out CVC words (determine if real or silly)
    lab, lep, lit, log, lut, lap 
    Make a list words with these endings
    -ot, -op, -ob, -om, -ox

    Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday (Based on the comprehension skill of the week)
    Song we review in class: Parts of a Story song
    This week's focus: Cause and Effect

    High Frequency Words (HFW-also known as Sight words : Same set of words last for two weeks. These words are meant to be read just by seeing them.
    This week's words: are, that, do

    Math: Unit 8-Measurement

    Nonstandard unit song

    Key concepts: Nonstandard units and cm cubes, length, height, width, size, comparing length and size

    At home practice: lay foundation for comparison of numbers, introduce rules of measurement-aligning endpoints, no gaps or overlaps, same size unit

    Science: Chapter 7 Mixtures and Matters
    Students will be able to identify and measure solid objects.

    Social Studies: Valentines Day
    Student will be able to state facts about Valentines Day.

    Writing: The Handwriting House

    WRITING TEST THURSDAY
